SharePoint Online Site Renaming

What is one of the most long overdue requests as it relates to SharePoint Online or SharePoint Server? Being able to rename site addresses would be the answer.

The owner of the site has been able to change a lot of properties on their sites over the years but changing site URLs has not been enabled. Since the modern SharePoint admin center came out, you can now change the site name. but you still can’t change the tenant’s domain name of course just the site name portion.

How Do SharePoint Online Admins Create Sites

Have you ever wondered how Admins of SharePoint create modern site collections or Classic sites?  Don`t let them fool you it really takes minutes to spin one up. Its the maintaining and administrating it that takes the effort. Here is a sneak preview of how they do it. Now it is true that users may create sites them selves, but they do not have all the features available that admins do.

By using the new SharePoint admin center, you can create sites that use one of the new team site or communication site templates.

SharePoint Online File Restore

One of the new features rolling out as we speak is the ability to restore Document libraries in SharePoint Online and Microsoft Teams. This is something that is available in OneDrive and might look very similar as it rolls out for SharePoint Online and Microsoft Teams during the months of April and May.

Voicemail is coming in April for all VoIP-enabled users in Microsoft Teams

Microsoft announced this past week that they are now providing voicemail capabilities for all VoIP-enabled users in Microsoft Teams. VoIP-enabled users will now be able to receive and hear voicemails in the Teams desktop and web clients. This feature is on-by-default and requires administrator action to disable.

Also if transcription is enabled for your tenant via Voicemail Policy, your users can also see voicemail transcriptions in their desktop clients, web clients, and in outlook clients.

Just another RoadMap feature rolling out for Office 365 and Microsoft Teams.

Coming to Teams

More exciting changes coming to Teams in the month of May 2019. For those of us that haven’t visited a Team for more than 45 days it will be automatically reordered and moved to the bottom "More" category. Users will see a dialog that will allow them to view the teams that were moved and choose to accept or undo the move. At times we all can have too many teams cluttering up our left rail. Over the next few weeks, teams you haven't visited in more than 45 days will be automatically reordered and moved to the bottom "More" category so you can focus on teams you're more active in.
