Project Server 2013 Hardware/Software Requirements

Much like previous versions of SharePoint you must meet minimum requirements for Project Server 2013 to be installed.

Operating systems - must either be Windows Server 2008 R2 with SP1 or Windows Server 2012. {Standard, Enterprise, Datacenter editions} SharePoint 2013 will not install unless you have a minimum of 2 GB of RAM and 2 CPUs.

Hardware - suggested specs are as follows:

  1. Processors: 64-bit, four-core processors running at 2.5GHz.
  2. Memory: 8GB RAM is the minimum for development with 16GB for production use.
  3. Hard Disk: To install Project Server 2013 and all related components (including SharePoint 2013), a minimum of 8GB is required.

For SQL Server you have 2 options for Project Server 2013:

Option 1 is to use SQL Server 2008 R2 Enterprise or Datacenter.

Option 2 is to use SQL Server 2012 Datacenter, Business Intelligence [new for SQL] or Standard.

Active Directory Servers can run on Windows Server 2003, 2008, 2008 R2, 2008 R2 SP1, and of course 2012.

Exchange Server has to be 2013, but is optional of course.

Since more browsers have been brought into the mix here are the minimums:

Internet Explorer: 8.0 or higher, Firefox: 10 or higher, Safari: 5 or higher, Google Chrome 17 or higher.

Project Professional Pro 2013 is the only version that will connect to Project Server 2013.
