Office 365 Planner

Starting this quarter Microsoft has started to release the Office 365 Planner to First Release customers of Office 365.

You will see a new tile:

Planner makes it easy for your team to create new plans, organize and assign tasks, share files, chat about what you’re working on, and get updates on progress. Planner can be used to manage a marketing event, brainstorm new product ideas, track a school project, prepare for a customer visit, or just organize your team more effectively.

The tool is in Preview currently and I would expect it to be fully available by the summer of 2016.

Now some have asked if this will be a replacement for Project Online or Project Server 2016 and the answer is simply no.

Project Server 2016 is a tool that encompass far more features and abilities then Office 365 Planner.

Planner is a tool that will work with in the suite of Office 365 [Delve, OneNote, Outlook 2016....] and be a good alternative to those groups that are not looking for a robust tool such as Project Server.

The Education market will love this tool for the organizing of coursework/school work through OneNote as plans are created in a Notebook each time.

So for the Office 365 First Release customers start keeping an eye out on your Office 365 app switcher and start creating plans..............
